The lobster fishing fleet in Brazil is concentrated in Ceará and Rio Grande do Norte, employing over 12,000 fishermen and contributing significantly to the country's fish exports. However, there are challenges with delays in fishing registrations, lack of regulation for fishing with compressors, and inadequate inspection of production. The Ministry of Fisheries is planning to discuss new fishing regulations, including changes in minimum size regulations and better governance of the activity at a meeting of the Permanent Lobster Management Committee in December.
