The Spanish wine sector is in a balanced and positive position, with strong support from the Government, according to the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas. Despite some imbalances, the sector is adaptable and willing to modernize. Minister Planas emphasized the need to meet new consumer trends, such as preferencing lighter, sparkling, organic, or non-alcoholic wines. He also highlighted the role of Bodegas Ramón Bilbao as a symbol of Spanish wine quality and announced a ministerial meeting to discuss cooperation in addressing the challenges of sustainable and efficient agri-food systems. This meeting is organized by the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (Ciheam), an organization that promotes cooperation in agriculture, food, fisheries, and rural development among Mediterranean countries.
