Malatya, a city in Turkey, has successfully exported 4,333 tons of apricot kernels, a product with a geographical indication registration certificate, earning $12.89 million despite the challenges posed by earthquakes. The city, known for producing 85% of the world's dried apricots, saw over 68,000 tons of dried apricots exported, generating $370 million in revenue. The Malatya Chamber of Commerce expects apricot kernel exports to reach 5,000 tons by the year's end.
