The Malaysian government has decided to discontinue subsidies for local broiler chickens and eggs, effective from the end of June, which will result in free-floating prices from July 1. The government also intends to remove all export restrictions on live broiler chickens in the same timeframe. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security will monitor the market and potentially reinstate ceiling prices during festive seasons. To ensure a stable supply, the government will implement measures such as lifting export restrictions on certain chicken products, except for chicks, to allow Malaysian operators to increase their income through the export market.
