The Mozambique Agricultural Research Institute invests in agricultural technology transfer for sweet potato cultivation

The Mozambique Agricultural Research Institute (IIAM) is investing in the transfer of agricultural technology for the cultivation of sweet potatoes, with the aim of increasing productivity and contributing to food security in the country, according to the newspaper Notícias. According to the information, in this context, last week, the institution trained more than 100 farmers from the Moamba district, Maputo province, in the cultivation of improved varieties of orange and purple-fleshed sweet potatoes. According to IIAM researcher, Milton Tovele, assigned to the Umbelúzi agricultural station, the training aimed to disseminate new technologies and introduce varieties of this crop, essential for food security, especially in developing countries.
