Azerbaijan's meat imports in the first ten months of 2020 were down by 13.5% compared to the same period in 2019, but the import bill rose by 2.8% due to higher prices paid to foreign suppliers. The average price of imported meat increased by 19%, but this did not significantly impact consumer prices, thanks to an increase in local meat production by 3.1%. Azerbaijan has the potential to further cover its meat demand through local production, especially with the liberation of additional territories.
