In March, China imported 243,121 tons of beef, marking an increase from February but falling short of the January record. The average import value of frozen boneless meat, which constituted 80% of total imports, rose to US$5,080 per ton, largely due to a higher average price from countries like the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. While Brazil's imports experienced a slight decrease, there was an increase in arrivals from Argentina and Uruguay. Oceania also saw an uptick in beef exports to China, with Australia and New Zealand reaching 22,000 tons and 18,000 tons respectively. Overall, the first quarter of the year witnessed a 22% increase in beef volume import year-over-year, although the average value dropped by 10%.
