In 2020, Mexico emerged as the eighth largest exporter of agri-food products globally, with exports valued at $41 billion, marking a 4% increase from the previous year and a significant improvement from its initial ranking in the top 10 in 2018. The country's exports were led by vegetables, fruits, and beverages, contributing over 61% of the total agricultural exports. The agricultural sector accounted for 3.6% of Mexico's total GDP in 2020, showing growth from the previous year. The sector employed around 12.7% of the economically active population. Beer, avocado, tequila, mezcal, tomato, and pepper were among the top exportear products.
