Mexico has preemptively suspended the importation of pork and pork products from Spain following the official notification of two cases of African swine fever (ASF) in wild boars in the municipality of Cerdanyola del Vallès (Barcelona). The decision was announced by the National Service of Health, Food Safety and Quality (SENASICA) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Mexico, which emphasized the strictly preventive nature of the measure. The suspension covers the entry of fresh pork, pork products and offal, such as hams, sausages, and cured meats, as well as pork viscera for human consumption and raw pork material used in the production of animal feed.
