Minister admits: reform of the agricultural insurance system is a necessity

It cannot be the case that an insurance company refuses to issue a policy just because it paid out a claim in the previous year, stated Minister of Agriculture Stefan Krajewski. Changes in agricultural insurance are one of the long-standing demands of the agricultural community. This concerns at least a few aspects. Firstly, there are annual problems in concluding policies for certain agricultural and horticultural crops against specific risks. Secondly, there are also real difficulties with the payment of compensation, especially related to the valuation of damages. Moreover, farmers face refusals of insurance when they have had losses in previous insurance periods for which the companies had to pay compensation.
