The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries in Indonesia is implementing five blue economy programs to optimize the potential of blue food to support national food self-sufficiency and meet the needs of the global fisheries market. These programs aim to regulate fishing activities through quota-based policies and promote sustainable cultivation of seaweed, shrimp, and tilapia. The Ministry also ensures the quality and safety of fishery products through the Marine and Fisheries Product Quality Control and Supervision Agency. Indonesian fishery products, including shrimp, skipjack tuna, squid, cuttlefish, octopus, crab, and seaweed, have been exported to 133 countries with an value of USD 5.6 billion in 2023.
