The Republic of Kazakhstan has launched 380 administrative proceedings this year due to violations including excessive trade markup on essential food items. The Ministry of Trade's territorial departments have imposed fines totaling over 4 million tenge. Despite this, food inflation stands at 7.4%, which is still lower than the five-year average of 9.3%. The most significant price hikes have been observed in cucumbers, tomatoes, and bananas, with the increase in food prices being attributed to factors such as the state of agriculture, long distances, underdeveloped agriculture, and import dependence.
