MME opens public consultation on target for reducing emissions in the natural gas market by 2026

São Paulo, 10/17/2025 - The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) announced this Friday, the 17th, the opening of a public consultation on a proposal to reduce the target for greenhouse gas emissions in the natural gas market for 2026.

According to the Ministry, the reduction would be achieved through the participation of biomethane in natural gas consumption, in compliance with art. 17 of Law No. 14,933, of October 8, 2024. Contributions can be made via the MME website over a period of 45 days.

The MME also opened, in conjunction with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, another public consultation on the minimum proportion of residual oils and fats (OGR) in raw materials used in the production of biodiesel, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and green diesel.
