Moldovan berry producers will see a new subsidy mechanism in 2025, aimed at boosting productivity and quality to EU standards. This is part of the country's strategy to diversify its berry market and expand export varieties. Currently, the country is focusing on expanding its berry market in the EU by growing more diverse varieties. The government already supports berry farming through various programs, including subsidies for creating plantations and building greenhouses. A new support mechanism, costing up to 3 million lei for irrigation, will be implemented in 2025. Despite having about 4,700 hectares of berry plantations and over 600 producers, Moldova still cannot meet its domestic demand and relies on imports.
