South Africa's fruit exports have seen a consistent double-digit growth, reaching over 4 million tons in 2021, an 11% increase from the previous year. Despite challenges like container issues and port problems, the industry has remained resilient. The Netherlands is the leading buyer, followed by the EU27, UK, UAE, Russia, and China. Oranges are the primary export product, followed by apples, mandarins, grapes, grapefruit, pears, plums, and peaches/nectarines. The export of blueberries remained stable, while the export of plums and peaches/nectarines saw a significant increase. This growth is distributed across various regions, with Southeast Asia and the Gulf States showing notable growth.
