In 2023, Morocco diversified its wheat suppliers to avoid dependence on a single source and the impact of geopolitical tensions on supplies, importing 4.758 tons of soft wheat compared with 5.27 tons in 2022. France was the main supplier with 2.3 million tons, followed by Germany, Romania, Poland, and Russia, while imports from Baltic states increased and purchases from Argentina, Brazil, and Ukraine decreased. Morocco is expected to import more wheat this year due to drought prospects that will impact farming output, as it is the main staple and subsidizes bread prices.
