Beekeepers in the Niassa Special Reserve, Mecula, face challenges in selling their honey due to insufficient market promotion and publicity, resulting in low revenue and hindering sustainable social and economic projects. Moisés Muhalimo, a local beekeeper, processes about 40 liters of honey daily with a team of 15, but struggles with market access. They are seeking government help to connect with the national market to boost sales. Efforts are underway to distribute hives to new beekeepers to enhance family incomes, with honey priced at 500 meticais, primarily bought by tourists.
