In August 2021, Mato Grosso do Sul achieved a trade surplus of US$ 3.302 billion, marking a 15.3% increase from the same period last year. This growth is primarily due to a rise in exports and the strengthening of the dollar, with beef, poultry, and pork contributions notably increasing by over 26%, 24.6%, and 45% respectively. Soy beans continue to be the top export, followed by cellulose and gas. Bolivian gas imports have slightly decreased, while China remains the state's main export partner. Importations from the United States have seen a significant uptick by 53%.
