During the 3rd/2024 National Export Strategy Government-Private Export Promotion Committee Meeting, Myanmar's Union Minister of Commerce, U Tun Oun, reported that corn kernel exports have exceeded expectations in the first half of the 2024-2025 fiscal year. Corn kernels have become the third largest agricultural export in terms of foreign exchange earnings, following beans and rice. Myanmar exports about two-thirds of its annual corn production, which amounts to approximately 3.2 million metric tons, with 2.2 million metric tons being exported and 1 million metric tons consumed domestically.
