The Khatlon region in Tajikistan has seen significant agricultural activity in 2020, with the planting of new orchards and vineyards spanning 1218 hectares, including 891 hectares of dry land. The region has also restored 235 hectares of old orchards and 67 hectares of vineyards, increasing the total area of intensive orchards to 366 hectares. Furthermore, the sown area has been extended by 4481 hectares. As of October 1, farmers successfully sowed crops over 426,000 hectares, with 36,000 hectares dedicated to vegetables and 15,000 hectares to melons. The region, known for its fruit and vegetable production, has seen a notable increase in the production of vegetables, melons, and fruits, including various crops such as apples, pomegranates, and lemons, with a significant portion of the produce being exported. The region also houses both permanent and seasonal greenhouses, contributing to the production of early agricultural products.
