The UK wine industry is thriving, with over 1,000 vineyards now in operation, marking a 9.2% increase from the previous year. Sales of English and Welsh wines have grown by 10%, and the total vineyard area has expanded to 4,209 hectares. A new vineyard search tool by Independent Cottages has facilitated a 55% rise in vineyard visits over the past two years. Production surged by 77% in 2023, with sparkling wine sales up by 187% since 2018. The industry is also diversifying with more hybrid varieties being planted.
