The New Zealand Apple and Pear Industry Association (NZAPI) has revised its export forecast down by 11% to 18.9 million boxes, due to an 11% reduction in production. Despite the smaller fruit size, the taste and storage performance of the fruit are at their best in years, thanks to favorable summer weather conditions. The smaller apple size is attributed to the impact of Hurricane Gabriel and spring weather conditions. However, demand in major export markets remains strong, and consumers are repurchasing due to the high quality of the fruit.
