In the 2024/25 season, New Zealand saw a significant increase in cherry exports, with volume reaching 5,070 tons, a 33% rise from the previous season, and a record-breaking export value of 124 million New Zealand dollars. This marks the first time exports have surpassed 100 million, with the value nearly 12 times that of 20 years ago. The price of New Zealand cherries has doubled over the same period. Asia, particularly China, continues to be the primary market, accounting for 95.7% of exports, while exports to the U.S. and the Middle East, especially the UAE and Saudi Arabia, have also shown growth.
