Sesame producers in Niassa province's Mavago district have sold 120 tonnes of the crop, earning around six million meticais since March. They expect to sell 402 tons by August, generating 16 million meticais. Despite challenges like pests, diseases, and the eland animal, which damaged some fields, the plan is to produce 450 tons, up from 395 in the previous period. 11 stakeholders have been involved in the successful marketing of the crop, with the current purchase price at 80 meticais per kilogram. So far, 5,500 family sector producers have contributed to the production of sesame, with projections showing potential revenue of 16 million meticais for the current marketing year.
