A partnership between the Norwegian government, represented by Minister of Agriculture and Food Geir Pollestad, and four private companies has been established to store 30 thousand tons of wheat. The government will retain ownership of the grain, which will be housed at the companies' facilities across Norway. This initiative is part of a larger plan to create a food grain reserve, with the goal of achieving 82,500 tons by 2029, sufficient to support Norway's population for three months in case of a crisis. This strategy is a response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, which highlighted the importance of emergency food storage.
