Hungary: Not everything is getting more expensive in the fruit and vegetable market

The Hungarian green beans were offered at the price of HUF 1,600 at the Budapest Wholesale Market last week, which was HUF 50 higher than in the same period of 2021. On the other hand, the producer price of green peas was 28 percent (912 forints / kilogram) lower in May-June compared to the same period of the previous year. The most common price of domestic yellow melon in the second week of June was HUF 1,050, which was 31 percent higher than last year. Hungarian new potatoes (265 forints) could be bought 14 percent cheaper than last year. Potatoes without variety designation increased by 13 percent (to HUF 175), while potatoes from France were up 18 percent (HUF 250) more than in the same period in 2021. Depending on the size, domestically grown round tomatoes sold for 500 and 550 forints the most in the previous week, which was 43 and 53 percent higher than a year earlier, respectively.
