The USDA forecasts that Ukraine's oat production will drop to 350 thousand tonnes in the 2024/25 marketing year, marking the lowest yield in five seasons. This decrease is balanced by an increase in global oat production to 22.25 million tonnes, primarily driven by Canada and the European Union. Despite this production growth, global oat trade is expected to remain stable at 2.4 million tonnes. Ending stocks of oats are projected to rise to 2.2 million tonnes, reflecting a surplus where production exceeds consumption.
