A few months ago, we celebrated the repeal of the old decree 322 of 1973, which opened a new stage of commercial deregulation for Argentine livestock. The most relevant and ambitious destination that was immediately foreseen was Türkiye (Turkey), the second largest importer of livestock in the world and the main buyer in open markets. However, that initial optimism came with a call to action. To transform the opportunity into a sustained commercial flow, it was necessary to overcome two key obstacles: the sanitary status regarding foot-and-mouth disease and the lack of individual traceability. With the publication of resolution 841/2025 of the National Service of Agri-Food Health and Quality (Senasa), published last November 3, Argentina takes a decisive step towards the total traceability of the national herd, which constitutes a significant advance in the modernization and efficiency of livestock management.
