At least four people were hospitalized for treatment, but no serious injuries or deaths have been reported. The Consulate General is still verifying the exact number of affected individuals, with a preliminary estimate of over 100 people. Currently, the hospitalized individuals are in stable condition.
The staff member stated that the Consulate General contacted the affected exhibitors immediately after the incident and swiftly reached out to the involved restaurant, demanding that they take immediate measures to handle the situation properly and apologize to the affected individuals. The Consulate General has also established a task force to continuously monitor the progress of the incident.
The involved Chinese restaurant posted an apology on social media on the 19th, admitting that there were serious mistakes in the preparation of the group meals, including insufficient time for thawing and cooking the meat, which led to numerous diners experiencing discomfort. The restaurant stated that it has taken multiple remedial measures, including purchasing and distributing medication and assisting in transporting severely symptomatic exhibitors to the hospital for treatment.
