Overview of Meat Imports In August 2025, China imported 505,000 tons of meat, a decrease of 5.4% month-on-month and a decrease of 10.7% year-on-year. In the first eight months, China imported 4.24 million tons of meat, a decrease of nearly 160,000 tons year-on-year, a decrease of 3.6%. The proportions of beef, pork offal, pork, poultry products, and lamb in total meat imports were 42.7%, 18%, 16.7%, 12.3%, and 6.1%, respectively. In the first eight months, China imported meat from 37 countries, with the top ten countries in terms of import volume being Brazil, Spain, Australia, the United States, Argentina, New Zealand, Russia, Uruguay, the Netherlands, and Canada. The import volume from Australia and Russia increased significantly year-on-year, while the import volume from the United States, Argentina, New Zealand, and Uruguay decreased significantly.
