The opening of more markets for organic sugar and Paraguay's return to being the leading producer and exporter of this product, which has managed to establish a presence in important destinations, constitute the objectives of the sugar industry. The general manager of the Paraguayan Sugar and Alcohol Center (CAAP), Sonia Fleitas, explained that the long drought at the beginning of this year and the frost in June, mainly, affected the production of sugar cane generating yields lower than expected, but despite this it is expected to close 2025 with good numbers. "We expect to improve exports for the remainder of the year," she said to La Nación/Nación Media, adding that the climate is fundamental for having a good production.
