Paraná projects historic barley crop for 2024/25

According to the Agricultural Economic Bulletin released this Thursday (25), prepared by analysts from the Department of Rural Economy (Deral), from the State Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply (Seab), Paraná is registering a record area dedicated to barley, with potential for a historic production. "Between April and July, 103 thousand hectares were sown, an increase of 26% over the area harvested in 2024," Deral pointed out. The crops have been showing good development so far, but the bulletin highlights events that caused punctual damages. "At the end of June, frosts affected areas in bloom in some municipalities that plant early, and later other crops that were going through the stages of ear formation in September faced water deficit. This last problem was interrupted by the rains of the previous week, however these came accompanied by strong winds, lodging crops," Deral reported.
