Peach sector mobilizes for better prices

The Conjunctural Report released this Thursday (6) by Emater/RS-Ascar pointed out that, in the administrative region of Caxias do Sul, the peach harvest is behind schedule compared to a considered normal crop. Early varieties are being harvested, with "average caliber and coloration," according to the report. The supply to local markets is already occurring, as well as sales to other states, including São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, and Minas Gerais. The publication reported that there were no significant records of disease or pest attacks on the fruits. Prices at the producer fairs have declined compared to the previous week, ranging between R$ 4.50 and R$ 8.00 per kilo. In the Pelotas region, the crop is in the final phase of thinning, with the implementation of phytosanitary treatments and fruiting fertilization.
