São Paulo, the largest peanut producing state in Brazil, is projected to harvest 692.7 thousand tons of peanuts, a 23.3% increase from the previous harvest, according to the 12th Grain Harvest Survey. The state accounts for 92.8% of the country's total production. Most of the production, approximately 70%, is exported, with the European Union being the main buyer. However, recently China has shown growing interest in Brazilian peanuts, potentially opening up large new markets. The majority of the cultivation is concentrated in the northeast of the state, with several peanut exporters located along the route including Marília, Tupã and Presidente Prudente.
