Peas are among the top record exports of Russian leguminous crops

The Russian agro-industrial complex showed a record volume of exports of grain legumes in 2023. How many and what kind of grain legumes have Russian farmers exported, says the federal Agroexport Center. In 2023, the harvest of grain legumes in Russia increased by 29% and approached 6 million tons, according to Rosstat. Over the 11 months of 2023, Russia exported more than 3.2 million tons of pulses to foreign markets, which was a record achievement and two and a half times higher than export volumes in the same period in 2022. The value of exports also doubled. The main exported grain legume is peas, which account for 77% of total exports. Chickpeas take up 15% of the total volume, and lentils – 8%. Pea exports increased 2.5 times and amounted to about 2.5 million tons, and export revenue increased 1.9 times.
