Ecuador has seen a doubling of its shrimp processing capacity in the past three years, leading to a 58% increase in revenue to $3,292 million in the first half of this year. The growth is largely driven by the sale of peeled and tailed shrimp, with the US market experiencing a 40% rise in sales. Thailand's reopening of its market to Ecuadorian shrimp has also contributed to this growth. In contrast, banana sales have declined by 6.20% in the same period. However, the outlook for the second half of the year is uncertain due to factors such as the weaker euro in Europe and high inflation in the US.
