The Chairman of the Union of Chambers of Agriculture of Turkey, Şemsi Bayraktar, has expressed concern over the marketing difficulties and low prices faced by farmers for products such as peppers, squash, watermelon, pistachios, almonds, and tomatoes. He highlighted the challenges farmers face, including increasing production costs and the impact of climate change, despite producing under adverse conditions. Bayraktar pointed out that the excess supply and lack of demand have led to a drop in prices for these agricultural products, which are then sold at much higher prices in the market. He criticized the current marketing system, which he said is controlled by intermediaries and leads to product losses, and urged for the establishment of an effective marketing system and organization for the agricultural sector.
