The Russian Agricultural Bank forecasts a rise in fruit and berry consumption per capita to 63 kg by the end of 2021, driven by a 10-year high in domestic production which has nearly doubled and is now accounting for 42% of the market, while imports have seen a 10% decrease. The increase in domestic production is largely due to the development of horticulture, technology for harvest preservation, and increased industrial consumption. However, complete import substitution of tropical fruits is not expected due to Russia's climatic conditions. For the first 10 months of 2021, fruit and berry exports from Russia totaled 136.6 thousand tons, valued at $96.2 million, with the main consumers being Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Belarus.
