Countries such as Korea, New Zealand, Colombia, and India have zero tolerance for the white pig pest in table grapes, meaning that even a single pig or mealybug in a container will result in rejection. The El Niño phenomenon and rising temperatures on the Peruvian coast have worsened the situation for this pest. The white pig has become a significant pest not only in grapes but also in blueberries, pomegranates, persimmons, and citrus, partly due to the architecture of the blueberry plant and inadequate application machinery in the fields.
