The National Agricultural Health Service (Senasa) announced that Peruvian citrus exports exceeded 100,000 tons between January and May 2025, representing a 50% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. Among the main exported products, mandarins stood out, concentrating 62% of the total volume, followed by Tahiti lemon with 31% market share, but with the highest growth in this period. Exports of oranges, key lime, Eureka lemon, and tangelos were also recorded. This important sector advance is attributed to the joint effort of 129 export companies, which have strengthened the presence of Peruvian citrus in international markets, as well as to coordinated work with producers and local governments in fruit fly control, a pest whose presence has significantly decreased thanks to phytosanitary actions and favorable climatic conditions, such as temperature drops.
