Peru has obtained permission to export fresh potatoes to Brazil, a significant market with over 212 million consumers, thanks to the efforts of the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa) and the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri). This access is expected to benefit Peruvian farmers in regions such as Ayacucho, Huánuco, Junín, Huancavelica, Cusco, and Puno, known for their high potato production. The country is already exporting potatoes to nine other countries and expects to increase exports in the future. Additionally, Peru and Brazil are planning to hold bilateral technical meetings to improve trade and expand the list of exportable products, including blueberry plants and fresh fruits like strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries.
