The National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (Devida) has reported a decrease in coca crop cultivation areas in Peru, totaling 92,784 hectares, a decrease of 2,224 hectares from the previous year. This reduction is attributed to joint efforts by state entities against drug trafficking. The report also highlights a decrease in coca cultivation in protected areas and areas inhabited by indigenous peoples, with data meeting UNODC quality standards. The early warning mechanism for coca leaf crops, supported by the European Union, aids in the effective detection of cocaine drug production. This report was presented alongside the UNODC World Drug Report, which provides a global assessment of drug market trends, as part of the International Day to Combat Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
