Peruvian Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, Ángel Manero Campos, has reached an agreement with his Brazilian counterparts to publish a resolution on phytosanitary requirements for Peruvian fresh potatoes in Brazil within the next 30 days, opening up a potential market of over 200 million consumers. This could help Peruvian farmers avoid price drops due to surplus potatoes. Manero also discussed with Brazil's Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply, Carlos Fávaro, the possibility of access for strawberries and raspberries to the Brazilian market. Manero also spoke about Peru's irrigation projects, which aim to expand the agricultural sector, and mentioned that the Port of Chancay is already operational and invites Brazilian companies to establish there. This discussion took place during the 18th International Congress of the Latin American Association for the Development of Agricultural Insurance (ALASA) in Brasilia.
