Peru has seen a significant increase in its fruit exports, with the country ranking among the top 10 fruit exporting countries since 2017. The growth is primarily driven by grapes, blueberries, and avocados, with the United States and the EU-28 accounting for over 75 percent of these exports in 2020. Peruvian grape production has experienced steady growth, reaching 665,000 tons in 2020/21, and blueberry exports have also surged, valued at over $800 million in 2019. Avocado exports have tripled in the last decade, reaching 550,000 tons in 2020, and citrus exports have doubled in the last five years. Free trade agreements with the EU-28 and the United States have facilitated this growth. Additionally, Peru's mango exports have increased significantly, reaching $136 million to the EU-28 in 2020, and its mandarin and orange exports to the United States have also grown.
