Since 2015, the European Union (EU) has imposed additional controls on Peruvian organic quinoa due to pesticide residues. However, due to collaborative efforts from various Peruvian organizations and ministries, the EU has reduced the list of controlled Peruvian organic products from five to two, excluding Peruvian lemons, pomegranates, and coffee. This decision is expected to benefit organic quinoa growers. In the first nine months of this year, Peru's organic quinoa exports reached US$50.4 million, with the United States being the primary export destination.
