The 'Peruvian Pig Week,' now in its seventh year, is an initiative by the Peruvian Association of Pork Farmers aimed at promoting pork consumption in Peru. With an average consumption of 10 kilos per person per year, surpassing beef, the campaign seeks to highlight pork's health benefits, affordability, and culinary versatility. Running until April 21, it features nationwide discounts on pork products in markets, supermarkets, and restaurants. Ana Trelles, the general manager, emphasized the campaign's role in supporting the pork sector's growth amidst economic and climatic challenges, noting an increase in pork's presence on restaurant menus.
