(Yeongdong=Yonhap News) In Yeongdong, North Chungcheong, a major jujube production area, the process of making jujubes is in full swing at local farms.
In areas such as Hwasin-ri and Jugok-ri, jujubes are cut and dried into jujubes starting from around the Shangjiang (Frost's Descent) period when frost begins to fall.
The variety cultivated in this region is mostly 'Dungsi', named for its round shape.
The jujubes are hung on jujube sticks and undergo a natural drying process for about 45 days, transforming into fragrant, golden-hued jujubes.
According to Yeongdong County, last year, 2,690 farms produced 9,258 tons of jujubes, generating 83.6 billion won in revenue. (Written by Reporter Kim Hyeong-woo, Photo=Yeongdong County)
