The industry is divided into three types of farming, with technified production being the largest contributor, followed by moderately technified and family breeding. However, the sector has been severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, leading to a breakdown of the marketing chain, closure of slaughter plants, and a decrease in demand from the Horeca sector. This resulted in a drop in consumer consumption and a significant financial loss for the sector.
