As of last year, Vietnam is one of the major agricultural export countries in Southeast Asia and the world's 4th largest silk producer (raw silk 67%, raw yarn 22%, silk 8.49%). Despite silk farming being a key income source for Vietnamese farmers, issues such as a lack of high-quality seeds, insufficient cultivation techniques, inadequate pest control systems, and dependence on Chinese silkworm seeds continue to reduce farm productivity and profitability. In response, the Korea Project on International Agriculture (KOPIA) Vietnam Center has been building a comprehensive cooperation model encompassing variety breeding, cultivation technique improvement, and processing technology development since its establishment in 2009, contributing to local agricultural development.
