Cucumber prices in Ukraine are rising at an incredible rate. The issue is that the supply in the market is extremely limited, while demand is quite high. Analysts from the EastFruit project noted that only over the past week, prices for greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine have increased by an average of 16%, and today, processing plants are offering the vegetable in the range of 30-50 UAH/kg ($0.72-1.20/kg), depending on quality and batch size. It is noted that sharp temperature fluctuations in July triggered the spread of cucumber diseases, which negatively affected its quality. Also, the hot and dry weather in most regions in the second half of July contributed to the overall reduction in cucumber supply. Despite the latest price increase, cucumbers are currently on sale at an average of 15% cheaper than in early August 2024.
